Athens, Greece Day 1

Enclosure
I've always dreamed of coming to Athens. The weather here is perfect...about mid 60's and windy, partly cloudy, with occasional sunshine (I could be a weatherman, couldn't I?) I have to say this entire trip has been worth getting to see the Acropolis today. As you know (or may not know), the Acropolis is basically the big hill where the Parthenon and other Greek ruins are located. The Phelps's and we went together to see it for ourselves. You can actually see the Parthenon from our hotel room, but it doesn't quite do it justice until you see it up close and personal.
It is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen...ever. I've seen it depicted in movies and seen footage on TV, but it doesn't compare to seeing it in person. It was hard not to think about how advanced this civilization was, especially when you see how elaborate everything is. All the detail is amazing, and to think that this was done over 1500 years ago is mind-blowing.
We are currently cleaning up for tonight's concert. We leave for the venue in an hour. This area is not a heavily-churched area, to say the least. So, we are not expecting a very big crowd tonight. I'm totally fine with this. We ARE here to minister to these folks and that's what we're praying happens tonight. Looking forward to it!
Tomorrow several of us are renting a bus for the day to drive to Corinth, which is about an hour away from Athens. Very excited about this. I will be sure to take lots of pics. Look for them here and on Twitter/Facebook. After Corinth we hope to see a few more landmarks, such as the Olympic arena, which is purely made from marble...it seats 60,000 people...about the average size of one of our concerts...if you divide it by ten.
I will write again soon. Enjoy some pics we took just a couple of hours ago. Later!
